AMIA/IASA 2010 Joint Conference

Sponsorship Opportunities

The AMIA Annual Conference provides an invaluable opportunity for all those involved in the preservation and care of moving images to meet colleagues, share information and learn about the latest developments. Hundreds of individuals worldwide from archives, production libraries, television networks, major studios and laboratories attend an ambitious schedule of panels, presentations, sessions, workshops and technical symposia that cover a wide range of issues. In addition, AMIA's volunteer committees and interest groups meet to discuss a variety of ongoing AMIA projects and programs.

In 2010, the Association of Moving Image Archivists and the International Association of Sound and Audiovisual Archives will come together for the first time in a joint conference. The IASA/AMIA Conference will provide an opportunity for colleagues and those interested in all aspects of the field to meet, share information and discover mutual solutions.

Organized by working audiovisual archivists, the Conference program focuses on urgent problems faced by the - lone arranger- to a national collection, with attention to pressures of shifting technologies and managing budgets.

In addition to three full days of concurrent and plenary sessions, conference events include workshops, advanced technical symposia, tours of local facilities, an AMIA Awards ceremony (featuring the presentation of the Silver Light career recognition award and the AMIA Scholarships and Fellowship), and the annual - AMIA Archival Screening Night,- featuring archival clips of all kinds recently-acquired or newly-restored by a broad range of institutions, shown wherever possible in the original format. AMIA's annual conference is open to all, regardless of membership in AMIA.

Who Attends the AMIA Annual Conference?

The annual AMIA Conference is the largest gathering of motion picture and recorded sound archivists and interested professionals. 500-700 annual attendees include members and colleagues from the world's major media institutions, including the Library of Congress, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences (AMPAS), the British Film Institute, Netherlands Filmmuseum, UCLA Film and Television Archive and George Eastman House, the major studios - Sony Pictures, Twentieth Century Fox, Universal Pictures, Paramount Pictures, Warner Bros. - as well as library, university, military and other institutions.

AMIA's Annual Conference offers a forum for all areas of the field to come together. In addition to archival institutions, attendees include laboratories, providers of digital asset management systems, storage solutions and other colleagues in the field. The wide range of delegates provides a unique forum for an annual discussion of the field, changing technologies and future directions.
