AMIA Trivia Championship Team!
And do it all for a good cause.
Are you game?
Can you name all the actors that play the role of Felix in all the Bond films? Do you know an AMIA member that might? If not, you’ll want to find a fellow colleague that does as you begin to form your team for AMIA’s First Annual Trivia Throwdown at this year’s conference in Rochester, NY. That’s right, start brushing up on your Trivia Pursuit questions. But don’t think that studying your Silver Screen Edition of Trivial Pursuit will do you any good; at AMIA’s Trivia Throwdown, all categories are game.
Since the game is open to all categories (yes, all categories), you’ll want to choose your team carefully and pick the sports know-it-all, the literature nut, the map collector, and the 80’s pop culture nerd. Awards will be given in the following categories: Winning Team, Most Valuable Player, Best Team Name, and Best Team Spirit. Don’t be afraid to get creative with your team name or, dare I say?, with your team’s cheer (pom-poms and dance moves are permitted).
Teams will consist of 5-8 people, no more, no less. The games will commence Thursday, September 27, 2007 at 9:30 in the evening; teams must be sitting at their table, ready to battle at 9:15. . Rules will be strictly enforced by our crack goon squad: Only contestants seated at the table are players. No use of cell phones, iPhones or crackberries (this is not “Millionaire” and there is no phone-a-friend option).
To register, download the Registration Forms (here), and fill it out with the name of your team, the team member names, and contact information for the team’s point person. Send in your money ($80 per team, even if you have the minimum of 5 people) along with the completed registration form to the AMIA Office. Team registration is due by September 10th.
Don't want to form up your own team? We'll have teams that come together just for the night (we like to call it Survivor Trivia), so sign up as an individual or in twos or threes. If you're new to AMIA, it's a great way to meet your colleagues, and if you're an AMIA conference veteran just looking to share your celebrated wisdom, here's your chance. Teams will form game day; so not to worry if you don’t have enough to meet the minimum number of people needed. To sign up individually, same instructions - download form, send in the form and your payment ($10 per person).
If you would like to help sponsor our little game, you will receive lots of thanks and free advertising from us; commitment is due by September 1 st. For those business tycoons that would like to advertise their colossal conglomerate on either of our two pretty little placemats – call us, we’re flexible! We will also accept donations of your wares for game prizes, door prizes, raffles ...
All the funds from Trivia Night will go to support the AMIA 's Mary Ann Gomes Award, which awards funding assistance for regional archivists to attend the Annual AMIA Conference.
